E is for Events. ish.

So my ginger is coming up to O-hi-o beginning of September and I have ideas of what we should do. and yeah, i'm gonna pick this blog back up like i never left. haha so as i was saying...i'm S-T-O-K-E-D. i dislike being a thousand miles away from my bf so i always love to plan things out for us to do. here are my top five must-dos...

1. awww-yeaah. dublin irish fest.
just good stuff all around. during the day you can explore all the booths/food, see more than you want of men in skirts, erm, kilts, plenty of mead/beer/whiskey and of course, the irish music and dancers. then come evening, more beer and irish rock. what's not to love.

2. Hocking Hills
Super zip! recently took a trip to hocking hills to enjoy some shopping and ziplining here. it. was. a. blast! lol todd would totally dig this kinda thing. $50 for 3 times. it's so worth it :)

3. Menchieeeee's
i'm addicted. yeah it's just frozen yogurt, but it's amazing! you choose out of the many different flavors they have, choose your own topping and then pay for what you got. all self serve. and there's a rewards card...earn points per dollar spent. booyah. i'm impressed. todd finally gets to try what i've been eating so often...

4. Dave&Busters
oh yeah, it's on like donkey kong. haha we went here the last time he was in town and had a blast! yeah it's a little pricey, but it's worth it. if nothing else, to sit at the bar and just have a drink after spending 50 bucks on games in 20 minutes.

5. Our Cupcakery
cupcake bar? yes please! haven't been here before, but i recently heard of it, and oh let me tell you, i love cupcakes! i need to post some of my cupcakes on here one day that i've made...noted. so this one will be adventurous, and well, that's what we like. i'm sure we'll find more to explore...and i hope he doesn't read this before he comes haha, it'll give away a lot. but i'm just excited to have him here :D again, i say, stoked!

Fun Fun Funny :)

so i don't ever claim to be the funniest person, in fact, sometimes i just don't even get the jokes. however, i love laughing and that normally means some super simple jokes. lucky for me my todd is full of them. upon meeting his dad, at dinner time he had asked me what i loved about todd. the first thing out of my mouth, before i could explain all the wonderful things about him, was his sense of humor. so i thought i'd share some of his infamous jokes. :D

#1. what did the farmer say when he couldn't find his tractor?

answer: where's my tractor?

#2. duck walks into a bar and asks the bartender, "got any gwapes?" bartender says no. duck says ok and walks out. duck walks into the bar the next day and says "got any gwapes?" the bartender says no and the duck says ok and walks out. the duck walks into the bar the next days and asks "got any gwapes?" the bartender says "look, we don't serve grapes here! ask me again and i'll nail your beak to the bar!" the duck says ok and walks out. the next day the duck walks in and asks "got any nails?" the bartender says "no." the duck says "ok. got any gwapes?"

#3. what's a boomerang that doesn't come back?

answer: a stick

#4. what do you call a deer with no eyes?

answer: no i-deer

#5. polar bear walks into a bar and asks the bartender for "a gin.............and tonic." and the bartender asks the bear "why the big pause?" the polar bear says "i was born with them."

lol true story, i had to read the last joke a couple of times because the first time he told it was in a text. big pause...big paws? haha? i find them funny anyways. hope maybe this added a smile to your day :)

I is for Interesting

ok it's been another million years. everything has been crazy lately still. gag. but i ran across a site in 17 mag and it's so super cute! i wanted to share my favorite little online shops today for my 'i' entry. enjoy and share any other cute little sites that you have ran across in the comments box! :D

ps. made the burrito again, this time following the directions and it was yummy in my tummy! haha :)

1. makemechic.com

this is the site i found in seventeen magazine. my internet is messing up :& grr so i haven't been able to check out the rest of the site, as i only found it tonight, but i'm liking their thoughts on cheap but cute! mostly i'm loving the shoes...they specialize in super cute boots haha! when i am rich one day i'll invest in good quality, loubies...until then, i think i'll look around this site a little more and let you know what i order and my happiness level with it

2. 15dollarstore.com

i found this site thanks to michelle phan (wonderful youtube makeup guru). everything is 15 dollars as the name implies. LOL they have a lot of cute junior clothes...that's 3 items for under 50 bucks! plus tax of course

3. fredflare.com

i totally love fredflare. they have the most random, cute things! granted they're no 15 dollar store cost-wise, but i know right now they have a 30% off dealio for the next week-ish. i've gotten the most random gifts from here and people have loved them :) so i can say this one is tried and true

4. forever21.com

this store is hard not to love. it's my favorite store to look for cute cheap items. granted they're not gonna be super good quality, but very trendy. i definitely like the online store because i have enough of their clothes or have tried on enough that i know my size andddd can easily go on and find the really good deals for when i'm in a pinch and still need to shop. haha

5. urbanog.com

so honestly i didn't have a store number 5, but i'm quite serious about my numbers (lol truely) so i searched and searched til i found one that i was willing to put as lucky number 5. this store is super cute. i see it all the time in seventeen mag so i'm happy i finally went to it. haven't checked everything out, but the first thing i look at when i look at a site is the dresses and this one has not expensive cute dresses. i approve. haha

happy hunting,

L is actually for love :)

I am young and in love, in case you did not know. :) And i am in love with a man who is also in love with me. oh love love love. haha Anywho, so here is what i think of love in this long distance relationship...

my best friend c'belle took some pictures for us.
this is the man who pulls me back up when i fall.
(yes i am 4'll and he's 6'1 haha)

oh sweet kisses
from my ginger

He sends me gorgeous flowers!

he takes me on picnics :)
he clearly has a romantic side.
i wouldn't have it any other way

He flies 1300 miles to see me for our
dating anniversary.
even if it means getting snowed in and
missing class on the following monday :D

if i'm ever mushy, you know where i get it from...straight from the source :)
i've been with guys who didn't change their social profile relationship statuses because after all it was "just myspace" and he didn't have to change it to make a statement or he would forget or didn't know how to...supposedly. however, i'm one of those girls who thinks it does matter and i'm not ashamed of that anymore. point of story...the little things are very important, but the big things are still the big things for a reason.
-brittney doll

ps. i tried the burrito from my previous post last minute and didn't look to see the actual ingredients (i will next time) but it was none the less yummy mcyummington :) let me know if anyone out there tries it or any of them!

E is yummy :)

so it's been a week since my last blog, oops. it has been quite busy but here i am sitting waiting on laundry, so alas, i shall post! i found an article i had pulled out of seventeen magazine a while back(when i had a subscription, i have finally grown up and now only have my allure and glamour subscriptions) and it had 5 yummy "lunches you'll love!" they really do look super delish :) i can't remember the issue or i'd post that :( but i did find some on the mag's website :)

"Monday"
T.B.L.T.
  • 1 tbsp. light ranch dressing, 2 slices whole wheat toast, 2 slices cooked turkey bacon, 2 slices turkey breast, 2 thin slices tomato, 2 leaves romaine lettuce

A fun twist on a classic sammie. Spread dressing on 1 slice of toast. Add turkey bacon, turkey, tomato, and lettuce. Top with second slice of toast, cut it in half, and pack it

in a zipper baggie!

"Tuesday"
Red, Black, Yellow Burrito

1/2 cup canned black beans, 1/4 cup canned corn, drained, 2 tbsp. canned diced tomatoes, 1/4 cup cooked brown rice, 2 tbsp. pepper Jack cheese, 1 ten-inch whole wheat tortilla

So easy! Put beans in a strainer and rinse. In a large bowl, toss the beans with corn and tomatoes. Stir in rice and cheese. Put the whole mixture in the tortilla and roll it up, then wrap burrito in foil. Yum!

"Wednesday"
Honey-Mustard Chicken Salad

3/4 cup cooked pasta, 1/2 cup frozen baby peas, 1/2 cup grape or cherry tomatoes, halved, 1/2 cup precooked grilled chicken strips, 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, 2 tbsp. light honey-mustard dressing
While pasta is cooking, put peas and tomatoes in a strainer; rinse under hot water for a sec. When pasta is cooked, drain and place in a container with a lid. Toss in peas, tomatoes, and chicken. Add cheese and dressing, then toss to coat. Cover and slip it in your bag!

"Thursday"
Meatball Pizza

1/4 cup marinare sauce, 1 whole wheat pita, 1/4 cup shredded skim mozzerella cheese, 2 cooked turkey meatballs(thinly sliced), 1 tsp. sliced fresh basil

(yes i did upload a pic straight from the mag page, they didn't have this one online =/)

So much better than doughy school pizza! Spread sauce evenly over pita. Top with cheese and meatball slices. Bakes in oven at 350°F until cheese is melted. Top with basil, cool in fridge overnight, then cut into four slices and wrap in foil.

"Friday"
Spicy Hams & Cheese Rolls

1 spinach or whole wheat wrap, 1 tbsp. spicy mustard, 2 slices reduced-fat cheddar cheese, 3 slices low-sodum ham, 1/4 cup shredded lettuce, 1/4 cup shredded cucumber, 1/4 cup shredded carrots, 2 tbsp. diced tomatoes

Buh-bye, boring lunch! Spread wrap with mustard, then top with cheese and ham. Add veggies and tomatoes to just half of wrap; roll up starting on that side (so they end up in the middle!). Cut into six rolls. Pack in a Tupperware container.

so some of these i'd have to 'fix' to my eating abilities...as spicy/acidy and my poor tummy don't go well together, but that's an easy fix. i'm really wanting to try the burrito, minus the tomatoes(yeah my tummy is that sensitive). hope you try one of these and again, seventeen mag has yummy little healthy lunches all the time, that is where these are from :)

life/work is Funny :)

so here it is, 10.10.10! i thought it would be a little more exciting than this. i've looked forward to it for the past 2 months and really i just have a headache. haha but tomorrow is monday and the beginning of a 40 hour work week. however, i work with kids(older toddlers) and it's never boring. so today's blog is things that happen and the kids say :)....

1. we had been singing wheels on the bus earlier that day, so at lunch one of the little boys holds up a piece of corn and says "corn goes beep beep!"

2. same little boy, at lunch time...we had apricots and the kids kept calling them either oranges or peaches, so i decided to emphasize that they were apricots, as we talk about our food and talk about which food group it belongs to. after lunch time is nap time. said little boy (lol always wanted to say that) runs to his cot, grabs his blanket and yanks it off the cot and yells "offricot!" haha i don't think i was very successful in conveying the meaning of the food, but they were quite successful in making me laugh :)

3. the other day out on the playground one of the little boys (in my class) runs up to one of the little girls (in the older class) and asks her "do you need help? cuz i'm a guy!" *insert karate pose. hahaha i couldn't stop laughing, all i could think is yep, you're definitely a guy ;)

4. art time! one of the little boys started drawing pictures of sun people a couple of weeks ago and mostly draws what he knows, his family. so he drew the usual of hair, eyes, mouth and added the arms and legs...and 3 circles ? true story, they were his mom's boobs and belly button(which he proceeded to add to all his pictures now). haha

5. and of course, my favorite...the many songs i've heard children in any class from mine to the school age children sing include: sean kingston 'fire burnin', avril lavigne 'girlfriend', t-pain 'buy you a drank', lady gaga anything and i wish i could remember the other one, i think it was one of trey songz. haha

i love talking about the kids in my class as if they were my own. haha silly kiddos :)

iiiinteresting....

so i was talking to c'belle and she mentioned her list of 100 things to do in 2011. she even is getting a piano to learn how to play it(on her list). granted she's only up to 47ish things. this inspired me, as her best friend, to go look up bucket list things to-do. well let me just tell you i found some interesting things. lol so my 'I' for interesting( or iiiiinteresting, rather) is 5 things on my life to-do list. :)
